The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Mod Editor in Development for 2024

Developer CD Projekt Red has announced plans to keep The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt going with a mod editor for PC players.

In a new post to The Witcher’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, CD Projekt Red announced plans to add a mod editor for the third installment. The mod editor, which would only be available on PC, will allow players to create in the game to keep it fresh. While an exact release date remains under wraps, the developer stated it planned to launch the editor sometime in 2024.

“We’re thrilled to announce that we’re working on a mod editor for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” the post reads. “It will allow you to create your own experiences in the game by making something completely new or editing existing quests and content. We’re planning on releasing it for free in 2024. Stay tuned — we’ll have more to share next year!”

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a fan favorite

The mod editor comes nearly ten years after the game launched in 2015. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt became a massive hit, earning numerous accolades and critical acclaim. To this day, it is often cited as one of the greatest games ever made. With the editor, the game follows in the footsteps of other popular RPGs like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. That game, which released in 2011, has remained popular through the use of mods.

Since The Witcher launched in 2007, the series has become a massive franchise hit. 2015’s Wild Hunt remains the last mainline title released. However, CD Projekt Red has confirmed multiple games in the works for the franchise. A remake of the first game is in the works and currently has no release date. CD Projekt Red is also developing a fourth game, which is meant to start a new series. While details remain scarce, the developer has confirmed that the game will feature a new Witcher branch, The School of the Lynx.
