Spider-Man Appears in the New Marvel’s Midnight Suns Trailer

Marvel’s Midnight Suns finally lets some of the House of Ideas’ “dark” superheroes headline their own video game adventure. But players can expect a certain friendly neighborhood webslinger to add some levity along the way. As part of today’s Summer Game Fest announcements, Firaxis and 2K Games released a new trailer for their upcoming Marvel-themed tactical RPG. And aside from confirming its fall release date, the trailer also reveals that Spider-Man will be one of the game’s playable characters.

Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” plays in the new trailer as Venom has an unfortunate encounter with Lilith, the Mother of Demons. She quickly corrupts him with her magic, drafting him as a warrior in her mission to awaken the Elder God Chthon. The trailer highlights several other playable heroes including Blade, Ghost Rider, Wolverine, Doctor Strange, and Iron Man. Together, they will face Lilith and her minions, which also include corrupted versions of Hulk and Sabretooth.

Gamers should also be happy to hear that Spidey will be voiced in the game by Yuri Lowenthal, the same actor who brings the webhead to life in Insomniac’s Spider-Man series. However, Midnight Suns takes place in a completely separate universe.

Just like other Marvel games, it looks like Midnight Suns will also feature an ample supply of bonus costumes for its character roster. The trailer even reveals that fans who pre-order the game will automatically receive an exclusive “Defenders” skin for Doctor Strange. Most recently, a variation of that suit appeared on the big screen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 7. The game will also hit the Nintendo Switch at a later date.
