2K Games Reveals Marvel’s Midnight Suns Tactical RPG

Square Enix’s Guardians of the Galaxy isn’t the only Marvel video game on the horizon. At Gamescom, 2K Games announced that XCOM developer Firaxis Games is working on a Marvel tactical RPG. The game is also taking its inspiration from Marvel’s Midnight Sons comic line. However, the title has been changed slightly to Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

In the announcement trailer, many of Marvel’s A-list heroes like Iron Man, Wolverine, Captain Marvel, and Doctor Strange are glimpsed as they take on a supernatural threat. Additionally, many of Marvel’s supernatural heroes and heroines are also present, including Blade, Ghost Rider (Robbie Reyes), Magik, and Nico Minoru from Runaways.

The game’s villain is Lilith, the Mother of All Monsters. While Lilith has immense powers of her own, she is also seeking to unite the pages of the Darkhold, the supernatural book of magic written by the elder god Chthon.

Lilith was also one of the primary villains in Marvel’s Midnight Sons, a loosely assembled comic line that included Ghost Rider (Danny Ketch), Doctor Strange, Johnny Blaze, the Nightstalkers, and the Darkhold Redeemers. Many of those characters appear to be present in the game.

The first gameplay reveal trailer will debut on September 1. 2K Games will release Marvel’s Midnight Suns on consoles in March 2022.
