Square Enix Sets the DLC Schedule For Marvel’s Avengers, Unveils Black Panther

Square Enix Sets the DLC Schedule For Marvel’s Avengers

Marvel’s Avengers hasn’t exactly had a smooth rollout, but Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are trying to win back players. Towards that end, the Square Enix Presents stream has laid out their DLC plans for the next few months.

Hakweye’s Future Imperfect mission is debuting this week, and a new gameplay video was released that features Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in action.

After this, the next major edition this spring will be the Tachyon Anomaly Event. This will temporarily allow players to choose multiple versions of a hero for the same team across all mission types. So, you can get a team of all-Hulks or all Captain Americas, for example. However, the story campaign events will be exempt from this feature.

As an unofficial tie-in with the Black Widow movie, the Red Room Takeover is also arriving in spring. The second Black Widow, Yelena Belova, will make her debut in the game as she baits Natasha Romanoff with hidden surveillance chips. The helicarrier’s H.A.R.M room will also be transformed into Yelena’s trap for Natasha and the rest of the Avengers.

The game’s summer 2021 events were also revealed. In the Cosmic Cube update, AIM Scientist Supreme Monica Rappaccini is creating the titular object in a secret lab. The Avengers will take on Monica, as well as advanced clones of herself. Additionally, the Wasteland Patrol will be a new game mode spinning out of the Hawkeye update.

Omega Level Threat missions will be added later in the summer, which will be multiplayer missions that send the Avengers against the Super Adaptoids. This update will include “Cloning Labs,” a four-player only opp that will be among the longest missions in the game.

Finally, Square Enix previewed the War for Wakanda Expansion for later in 2021. This will formally add Black Panther as a playable character, as well as Wakandan based missions. Additionally, Ulysses Klaue will debut in the game and align with AIM against Black Panther and the Avengers.

IGN is reporting that the Playstation 4 and 5 exclusive Spider-Man DLC is still coming. However, there’s no date set for that yet. Square Enix is also planning to give the Avengers MCU style costumes at a later date.
