Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered Isn’t Getting a Physical Release

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is already one of the most anticipated launch titles for the Playstation 5. However, Playstation 4 owners who aren’t in any hurry to upgrade their system will be able to play the game as well. Regardless, PS5 owners will have one extra advantage: Miles Morales’ pricier “Ultimate Edition” includes a voucher to play remastered versions of Spider-Man PS4 and its DLC. Now, Insomniac Games has confirmed that the remastered game will not get a physical release.

Insomniac reps took to the studio’s official Twitter account earlier today to share new details about Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered. Aside from revealing that a physical release isn’t happening, they confirmed that the new version won’t carry over PS4 saves. This means that anyone who plays the remaster will have to start the game from scratch. Insomniac also addressed whether gamers who pre-ordered Miles Morales’ standard edition could upgrade Spider-Man PS4 separately. You can read what they had to say below.

Insomniac Community Director James Stevenson previously dished on the upcoming remaster in a post found on the official Playstation Blog. He promised that anyone who buys Miles Morales’ Ultimate Edition has more than a “simple up-res” to look forward to. The new version takes full advantage of the PS5’s hardware to give players better-looking character and level designs. Insomniac’s technical upgrades also boost the original game’s frame rate from 30fps to 60fps.

Both the standard and Ultimate editions of Spider-Man: Miles Morales will hit stores on November 12.
