Insomniac Confirms Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a Standalone Game

During Sony’s Playstation 5 reveal event, one of the biggest surprises was the announcement of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. The follow up to Spider-Man PS4 will arrive in stores only two years after Insomniac’s first Spidey game. However, Sony’s Simon Rutter told The Telegraph that Miles Morales was more of an expansion than an original title.

“There’s a substantial Miles Morales component – which is the expansion element – but also within the game as well there’s been major enhancements to the game and the game engine, obviously deploying some of the major PlayStation 5 technology and features,” explained Rutter.

In response, Insomniac’s James Stevenson issued his own brief statement on Twitter that clarified the status of Miles Morales as a standalone game.

Regardless, Rutter seemingly confirmed that there will be a Playstation 5 remaster of Marvel’s Spider-Man with added features. As for Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it will be one of the PS5’s launch titles later this year. Very little is currently known about the game. However, the announcement trailer indicated that Peter Parker will continue to mentor Miles as he becomes Spider-Man as well. That also means that Miles will have to face his own villains while learning how to control his unique spider abilities.
