It’s been almost a year since ILMxLAB premiered the first installment of Vader Immortal, a three-part Star Wars gaming experience that utilized VR technology. Unfortunately, the series was only available to gamers who owned an Oculus headset. But now, the studio is expanding the game’s reach to PlayStation 4 owners as well. Via the official PlayStation blog, Vader Immortal will hit the PlayStation VR later this summer.
Mark S. Miller, ILMxLAB’s executive creative producer, made the announcement earlier today. Miller also shared that PS VR users have one particular advantage over the Oculus crowd: gamers can purchase this new version of Vader Immortal as a complete series rather than having to wait months for new episodes to drop. Additionally, the package includes all Lightsaber Dojos, which players can use to hone their combat skills.

Vader Immortal’s story, penned by screenwriter David S. Goyer, takes place between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It casts players as an unnamed Force-sensitive smuggler who is captured by Darth Vader before becoming his reluctant new apprentice. The third and final chapter was originally released on Oculus consoles back in November.
The PlayStation VR version of Vader Immortal is still without an official price or release date.
