Star Wars Battlefront II Teases Plans For Rise of Skywalker DLC

Even with Jedi: Fallen Order set to arrive this November, EA hasn’t forgotten about its other Star Wars video game, Battlefront II. EA announced on its official Battlefront blog page that it will release content based on The Rise of Skywalker later this year.

“We are super excited that content around Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is coming to the game!” the company noted in its blog post. “We aren’t prepared to dig in deeper than that right now, but will unleash further details around this as soon as we can.”

However, EA did detail what it has planned for Star Wars: Battlefront II in the months ahead. Later this month, the Senator and Dreadnought maps will be playable in the “Heroes and Villains” mode of the game. Additionally, a new contextual spawning feature will debut, and the B1 droid will make an appearance.

In September, a new map, Felucia, will make its debut, along with a new PvE mode, Co-Op. EA says it’s “a PvE experience designed for squads of up to four players as they look to progress through objectives. You can choose to play as either the Galactic Republic or the Separatist Alliance and partake in massive battles on all five of our Clone Wars era planets: Kashyyyk, Kamino, Naboo, Geonosis, and Felucia.” A new reinforcement, Clone Commando (from the classic video game, Star Wars: Republic Commando) will be available; and Instant Action will also be on hand for single players.

From October through December, fans will get new reinforcements and reinforcement appearances, although details aren’t available just yet. There will also be a special event, and that will lead directly into the Rise of Skywalker content. A more detailed look at the roadmap is below.

As always, all of these updates will be free of charge to players. For anyone who hasn’t picked up Star Wars Battlefront II yet, it’s going for around $20. Players can check it out now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
