Even before Creature Commandos‘ debut on Max, its Season 2 has got a positive update from one of its lead actors. The animated series will officially begin James Gunn’s DC Universe, which will be continued by Superman and Peacemaker Season 2 in 2025. However, a recent update from Frank Grillo could also ensure pre-existing plans for Creature Commandos Season 2.
Frank Grillo more or less confirms plans for Creature Commandos Season 2
Frank Grillo, who plays Rick Flag Sr., is confirmed to star in all three of James Gunn’s upcoming projects. But, he may not be done with the DCU after that as he also talked about Creature Commandos’ second season recently.
Speaking to GamesRadar+, Grillo said that Creature Commandos will be canceled only if “something goes terribly awry” with the first season’s reception or viewership. He said:
“Unless something goes terribly awry, I think we’ll see a Season 2. I’d love to see how it evolves. I’d like to see how they develop as a team because it takes the whole season for them to be a symbiotic kind of group and just see where it goes. Because it starts with me meeting them and kind of going like, what am I doing? What are these things? And then we become a family.”
The second season is yet to be officially announced. But, even showrunner Dean Lorey showed interest in returning for it in the past. While talking to ScreenRant, he said:
“We absolutely want to do a second season. There’s no particular five-season plan or anything like that. But we definitely want to do another season.”
He further teased that multiple characters from Creature Commandos will continue in Season 2. Lorey concluded:
“You will see, at the end of the first season, some of the characters that might be part of that, and there’s a lot of fun to come, I hope.”
The first two episodes of Creature Commandos arrive on December 5. The following episodes will release every Thursday until January 9, 2025.
