Anthony Ramos is opening up about how he’s trying to make Parker Robbins/The Hood a “different” kind of MCU villain in 2025’s Ironheart.
Ramos is playing the villainous Parker Robinson in the forthcoming Ironheart miniseries. The Marvel Studios show is created by Chinaka Hodge and will see Dominique Thorne reprise her role as Riri Williams from 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
It was announced in February 2022 that Ramos would be playing Parker Robbins/The Hood — a character created by Brian K. Vaughan, Kyle Hotz, and Eric Powell who debuted in 2002’s The Hood #1 —in Marvel’s Ironheart.
What did Anthony Ramos say about Ironheart?
Speaking to ComingSoon in an exclusive interview, Ramos was asked if he’s dived into the Marvel Comics history of the character when preparing to play the role.
“No, I didn’t really dive into the comics,” he answered. “I just really focused on my character, and you just follow the script. But it was also like, yo, how do I make him singular? How do I make him different? Parker Robinson in the comics is from New York. Our guy is from Chicago, our show is set there. So I just wanted to make him super dynamic. Like every character, I just see how I relate to him, and I try to put as much of myself into the character. I think that was how I looked at it. But for sure, I referenced the comics. He has a certain look, but Parker Robinson in the comics looks different than me, you know? So, it was cool being able to almost recreate this guy.”
The cast of Ironheart also includes Lyric Ross as Natalie Washington, Alden Ehrenreich as Joe McGillicuddy, Matthew Elam as Xavier Washington, Anji White as Riri’s mom, Manny Montana as Cousin John, and Shea Couleé as Slug.
Ironheart will premiere on Disney+ on June 24, 2025.
