Fear the Walking Dead’s Garret Dillahunt has joined the cast of DCU’s Lanterns.
Lanterns is the forthcoming DCU series that comes from Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King. Kyle Chandler has been tapped to play Hal Jordan in the show, while Aaron Pierre will star as John Stewart.
Per Deadline, Dillahunt has now officially joined the cast of Lanterns in a major recurring role.
Who is Garret Dillahunt playing in Lanterns?
Dillahunt will play a character named William Macon, who is described as a “modern cowboy” and a “self-righteous, conspiracy-minded man who masks his ruthless ambition behind a charming and calculated facade.”
In addition to playing John Dorie in Fear the Walking Dead, Dillahunt has had roles in television series such as One Life to Live, Leap Years, Deadwood, The 4400, ER, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Raising Hope, Hand of God, Justified, The Mindy Project, The Guest Gook, The Gifted, and more.
His filmography includes 2007’s No Country for Old Men, 2007’s The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Frost, 2009’s The Road, 2010’s Winter’s Bone, 2012’s Looper, 2013’s 12 Years a Slave, 2018’s Widows, 2021’s Army of the Dead, 2022’s Ambulance, and 2023’s The Dead Don’t Hurt, among other titles.
It was also recently announced that Kelly MacDonald, who also starred in No Country for Old Men, will play a character named Sheriff Kerry, who is a “no-nonsense woman deeply devoted to her family and close-knit town.”
The official logline for Lanterns reads, “The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”
James Gunn and Peter Safran previously said about the show, “We’re thrilled to bring this seminal DC title to HBO with Chris, Damon, and Tom at the helm. John Stewart and Hal Jordan are two of DC’s most compelling characters, and Lanterns brings them to life in an original detective story that is a foundational part of the unified DCU we’re launching next summer with Superman.”
A premiere date for Lanterns has not yet been announced.
