Minor Threats Live-Action Adaptation in the Works at Netflix

A Minor Threats live-action series adaptation is now in the early stages of development at Netflix. The project is based on the acclaimed Dark Horse Comics title co-created by actor Patton Oswalt (The King of Queens) and screenwriter Jordan Blum.

Published in 2022, Minor Threats revolves around heroes and supervillains co-existing in Twilight City. Tension arises when a sociopath named Stickman murders a crime fighter’s sidekick, sending the whole city into a whole new level of chaos. The low-level supervillains then plan to kill Stickman themselves in order to live peacefully in a city where heroes are harassing them.

Who’s behind Netflix’s Minor Threats live-action adaptation?

The creators behind the hit comic book series, Oswalt and Blum, will serve as the series adaptation’s co-showrunners and co-executive producers. Additional executive producers include Minor Threat’s artist Scott Hepburn and Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg.

Minor Threats became an instant hit for Dark Horse, so much so that it immediately spawned sequels and spin-offs.

“The psychotic Stickman has murdered Kid Dusk, sidekick to Twilight Citys premier crime-fighter, the Insomniac. The Insomniac’s teammates are tearing Twilight apart, turning it into a police state — desperate to capture Stickman and stop the Insomniac from crossing that final line which he may never come back from,” the comic’s description reads. “Caught in the middle are the small-time c-list villains, finding it impossible to walk down the street without being harassed by these heroes. With a bounty on the Stickman’s head, former villain Playtime decides to assemble a ragtag team of villains to take down the Stickman and kill him themselves,” the synopsis reads.”

Given that it is still in its early stages of development, other details about the planned Minor Threats live-action series remain under wraps, including the stars on board for the series as well as the release date.
