The Boys Cast Talks Series Ending at Season 5, Laz Alonso Pitches Movie Idea

The cast of The Boys is opening up about the popular Amazon Prime Video series ending after Season 5.

In June 2024, it was announced that The Boys Season 5 will be the end of the Prime Video series. Coming from Eric Kripke, The Boys stars Antony Starr as Homelander, Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell Jr., Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, and more.

Speaking with Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, cast members of The Boys were asked how they were feeling about the series ending after Season 5.

“We knew for a while [it was ending],” said Colby Minifie, who plays Ashley Barrett.

Starr said, “The show has done well. I think one of the most important things — I don’t want to speak for everyone, because most everyone is not here — but I think everyone wants to go out on a strong note. I think there’s nothing worse — and I’ve been involved with a show that did this, it was f****ing horrible — you do that last season and it’s s***. You get remembered very poorly and you have to kind of wear that.

“I’d like to think we will go out on a really strong note. I think we all deserve it. I think the people that make the show that aren’t here, across the board — from the executives at Amazon, at Vought, to the people who make our lunches to hair and make-up. It’s a f****ing great team of people who all deserve to have the show go out on a strong note. Hopefully, we’ll do that.”

Laz Alonso wants a movie to come after The Boys Season 5

When asked if anybody had made specific requests for their characters to Kripke in The Boys Season 5, Laz Alonso, who plays Marvin T. “Mother’s” Milk/M.M. in the series, said, “I’ve been unsuccessfully pitching that we end the show with a feature film to Erik. Like, make the last episode of Season 5 the cliffhanger and announce the film…He always somehow gets out of that one.”

When Alonso said that he’d like to see this theoretical feature film play in cinemas, Starr said, “Okay, I’m down.”

The first six episodes of The Boys Season 4, along with Seasons 1-3, are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The next episode will be released on July 11, with the Season 4 finale dropping on July 18.

A premiere date for The Boys Season 5 has not yet been announced.
