Ahsoka Star Rosario Dawson Explains Why Season 2 Is a ‘Big Deal’

Actor Rosario Dawson recently shared that she is looking forward to returning as Ahsoka Tano in the second season of the Star Wars series, Ahsoka.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Dawson revealed that she hadn’t received any scripts yet for Season 2, although that didn’t stop her from stating that she was “hugely” excited for the next season.

“I mean, it’s a big deal. It’s huge,” the actor explained. “I love everyone. It’s an incredible cast. It’s a great group of people and we get more Ahsoka, we get more Sabine. We get more of these characters in a way that — and as much as we’ve watched all of the previous shows and everything — it’s new storytelling, which is just insane to me. So I hope there’s new costumes and I want to know what’s going on.”

Ahsoka Season 1 finished off Star Wars Rebels’ dangling storylines

Set in the same period as The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka’s eight-episode first season focused on the former Jedi Padawan investigating an emerging threat to the galaxy following the fall of the Empire. The Disney+ series also served as a spiritual fifth season of Star Wars Rebels, picking up and concluding narrative threads that were left dangling from the animated series, such as the whereabouts of Ezra Bridger and the looming threat of Grand Admiral Thrawn.

Ahsoka Season 1 saw the live-action debuts of several Rebels characters including Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, and Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger. Lars Mikkelsen portrayed Grand Admiral Thrawn in Ahsoka after previously voicing the Star Wars villain in Rebels.

In January 2024, Lucasfilm announced that series creator Dave Filoni had begun working on a second season of Ahsoka. Based on Dawson’s comments, it looks like the series will branch out from its Rebels roots and break new storytelling ground in its second season.

Ahsoka Season 1 is available to stream on Disney+.
