Alien: Foundation Star Joins Cast of Noah Hawley FX Series, Timeline Detailed

Noah Hawley’s FX Alien series has added Foundation star Sandra Yi Sencindiver to the cast.

Per Deadline, Sencindiver has been cast in Hawley’s new Alien series, which is expected to premiere in 2025. The series is currently filming in Thailand.

The cast also includes Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diêm Camille, Adrian Edmondson, and Moe Bar-El.

Sencindiver plays Enjoiner Rue in Apple TV+’s Foundation. She’s also starred in television series such as The Wheel of Time, Bäckström, The Bridge, and more.

What is the timeline for the new Alien series?

According to Deadline, Hawley’s Alien will be set “towards the end of this century (a few years before Prometheus, and some thirty years before Scott’s film).” Hawley has previously said, however, that the series won’t play into the certain story elements featured in Prometheus and Alien: Covenant.

Deadline also reports that Halwye’s Alien will “be the first project in the franchise to take place on Earth and has been reported to deal with the emergence of the story’s infamous Weyland-Yutani Corporation and the race between corporations to create new android life.”

Alien is envisioned to be an ongoing series for FX. He recently told Collider, “With Legion, I had what felt like a three-act structure to it that I didn’t know if that would be three seasons or five seasons, or whatever it was, but I sort of knew what a beginning, middle, and end was. And here, similarly, I knew that their desire was for a recurring series, not a limited series, and I had an idea that I was excited about, that I could see the escalation of it from one year to another. That’s where we ended up not pitching them having a bible or pitching them blow-by-blow, but saying, ‘Big picture: this is the first movement, this is the second movement, and we’re ultimately going here.’”

There is also a new Alien movie, Alien: Romulus, releasing later this year from Fede Álvarez. Hitting United States theaters on August 16, 2024, the movie stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu.

Hawley’s Alien series premieres sometime in 2025 on FX on Hulu.
