Peacemaker Season 2: John Cena Provides Updated Filming Window for DC Series

John Cena has provided an updated production window for Peacemaker Season 2.

Appearing on The Pat MacAfee Show, per a clip shared on X by Home of DCU, Cena spoke on when Peacemaker Season 2 will be filming.

The actor explained that after he finishes filming Heads of State — a movie directed by Ilya Naishuller that also stars Idris Elba, Stephen Root, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, Clare Foster, and more — he’ll be working on Peacemaker Season 2 through December.

“We started filming [a movie] before the strike called Heads of State Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Idris Elba,” Cena said. “And then straight from that to Peacemaker Season 2. That’ll take us through just about Christmas.”

Jennifer Holland, who plays Emilia Harcourt in the DC series, previously revealed on Instagram that Peacemaker Season 2 was expected to begin filming this summer. “It’s gonna be so gooooood,” Holland said at the time.

James Gunn also previously confirmed on Threads that Peacemaker Season 2 and 2025’s Superman will be filming at the same time. “Yes, I’ve written all the episodes; but, no, in the interest of getting the show out there I won’t be able to direct them all (only some),” Gunn said.

Peacemaker Season 2 will play into the DCU’s continuity

Gunn has previously stated that the second season of Peacemaker will address the new continuity of his and Peter Safran’s forthcoming DCU, which officially begins later this year with an animated Creature Commandos series.

The first season of Peacemaker is technically set within the DCEU, which concluded in 2023 with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. While Gunn has said that certain storylines and characters from the DCEU will carry into the DCU, he said in March 2024 that the first season won’t be canon moving forward.

Peacemaker Season 2 does not yet have an official release date. The first season is currently streaming on Max.
