Star Wars: The Acolyte will be released on Disney+ this summer.
Per Collider, Star Wars: The Acolyte will premiere on Disney+ in the summer of 2024. It’s not immediately clear if all eight episodes of the upcoming Star Wars series will drop at the same time or if it will be a weekly release schedule; however, the latter seems likely given the past history of Disney+ Star Wars series’ releases.
What do we know about Star Wars: The Acolyte?
Set at the end of the High Republic era (approximately 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace), Star Wars: The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margarita Levieva, Joonas Suotamo, and Amy Tsang.
A trailer for Star Wars: The Acolyte was shown at Europe’s Star Wars Celebration in 2023; however, it has not yet been shared online by Lucasfilm.
Star Wars: The Acolyte is written and executive produced by Leslye Headland, who also serves as the series’ showrunner. Headland, via Variety, previously said the series would be like “Frozen meets Kill Bill” from the perspective of the villains.
Deadline previously described the series as a “mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.”
Alex Garcia Lopez, Kogonada, and Headland are directing episodes of the series. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson serve as producers on Star Wars: The Acolyte, while executive producers include Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef.
