Gen V Star Has Been a Fan of The Boys Since Auditioning for Hughie

Chance Perdomo plays Andre Anderson on Prime Video‘s Gen V, but he’s been interested in the franchise since before its parent show, The Boys, had even premiered. In fact, he auditioned to play Hughie Campbell, a major role which went to Jack Quaid.

“I came into this as a fan of The Boys,” Perdomo said in an interview with Variety. “I actually had originally auditioned for Hughie, years ago. I read it and I thought it was such a great script. And I was like, ‘Whether I get it or not, I still want to watch the show.’ Then I watched The Boys and I think, ‘Wow this has never been done, it’s amazing’.”

Will Andre get to meet The Boys’ Butcher?

Gen V’s first season recently concluded with a cliffhanger ending that showed Andre and several other characters trapped in a room with no door. Fortunately, the series has already been renewed for Season 2, and Perdomo is speculating that the predicament in the season finale may lead to an epic crossover with Karl Urban‘s The Boys character, Billy Butcher. He pointed out some visual cues that may mean the room is in Vought Tower, the headquarters of the corporation that the team from The Boys has been struggling against.

“I think it’s possibly a variation of one of those holding cells somewhere underground, under the tower,” Perdomo said. “That’s what I hope because that’s gonna make for a kick-ass escape scene. We might need to recruit some help getting out from Mr. Billy Butcher. Wouldn’t that be crazy?”

The Boys, based on a series of comics of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, premiered on Prime Video in 2019. The show imagines a world in which superheroes are real, but paid and promoted by a megacorporation, Vought International, which engineered the drug that imparts powers. As a result, “supes” are viewed as celebrities and concerned only with their image, and many of them have become selfish, spoiled public idols.

Gen V adds a twist to this scenario by focusing on young supes who are attending Vought’s Godolkin University, already immersed in the corporation’s propaganda as they prepare for lives under the spotlight.

Season 1 of Gen V and the first three seasons of The Boys are now streaming on Prime Video. The Boys Season 4 will premiere in 2024; a release window for Gen V Season 2 has not yet been announced.
