It seems like Disney may be letting Marvel make TV-MA content on Disney+, akin to series like Netflix’s Daredevil and Punisher.
Will Marvel be allowed to make TV-MA content on Disney+?
Insider @CanWeGetToast has tweeted that Disney will indeed be allowing Marvel Studios to make TV-MA material to go on Disney+. The tweet also features an image of Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher from the promotional art for Daredevil’s second season on Netflix.
Though some of the Marvel Disney+ series have featured mature themes, they haven’t delved into the more intense violence of series like Netflix’s The Punisher. Whether or not the upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again will feature said mature or TV-MA content is unknown.
Daredevil: Born Again is described as an 18-episode revival of the original, which ran for three seasons. It will feature the return of leading stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, as they reprise their respective roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Both characters made their Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts in 2021. Kingpin guest-starred in the Disney+ Hawkeye series, and Matt Murdock briefly appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Cox also recently guest-starred in two episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he showed off a lighter side of the hero.
