Blindspotting’s Rafael Casal Cast In Loki Season 2

After being spotted on the set of Loki season 2, Rafael Casal has been confirmed to have a major role on the show next season. Deadline notes that Casal’s character remains a mystery, but he appeared on set alongside Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Mobius (Owen Wilson). Additionally, the report states that early speculation has Casal playing Zaniac, a lesser-known Thor villain. In Marvel’s comic book universe, Zaniac was an alien entity who possessed men and compelled them to murder women. Zaniac may have also been Jack the Ripper in Marvel’s lore.

Casal is best known for Blindspotting, a film he co-wrote, produced, and co-starred with his collaborator, Daveed Diggs. Casal and Diggs also reteamed to create the Blindspotting TV series for Starz, in which Casal reprises his role as Miles. Additionally, Casal is the showrunner on Blindspotting, which has been renewed for a second season. His other acting credits include Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Good Lord Bird, and Bad Education.

In the Loki season 1 finale, the God of Mischief’s female counterpart, Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), murdered He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) at the end of time. This inadvertently created the Marvel multiverse, and teased Majors’ role as Kang the Conqueror. It’s unknown if Majors will appear in the second season, but he will officially debut as Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Hiddleston is executive producing Loki season 2 alongside Michael Waldron. Eric Martin is writing all six episodes, which will be helmed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, and at least one other director.

Disney+ hasn’t set a date for Loki season 2. But a 2023 release seems likely.
