Amazon Prime Video Renews The Boys For Season 4

The Boys season 3 debuted a week ago, and that was enough time for Amazon Prime Video to decide it wants more. Via Deadline, Amazon has officially renewed The Boys for a fourth season. There’s no word on when The Boys season 4 may premiere, but late 2023 or early 2024 seem like strong possibilities. Renews the boys.

Erik Kripke, the showrunner of The Boys, also released a statement with his reaction to the news.

“Speaking for the cast and crew, we’re so grateful to Sony, Amazon, and most of all the fans for embracing the show and allowing us to make more. We’re thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys’ fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success.”

The Boys is based upon the comic book series created by Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson that was published by Dynamite Entertainment from 2006 to 2012. The series follows a group led by Billy Butcher who want to take down the corrupt “Supes,” including Homelander and most of The Seven.

An untitled spinoff from The Boys is already in production. While speaking with Deadline, Amazon Studios’ Vernon Sanders shared an update about the spinoff.

“We are thrilled, the dailies look great, we are excited about the cast that we have,” said Sanders. “It absolutely has The Boys, it’s part of the show, but I think the other thing we are excited about, it’s different in its own way. It’s definitely been a long road. I have to admit, when Eric Kripke came to talk to us about the spinoff, we were so excited about the potential of it, we told him we wanted it two years earlier than he said he could get it done. Eric has been great and brought great showrunners as well.”

Sanders also indicated that the animated anthology, The Boys Presents: Diabolical, could get another season.

“There is absolutely the possibility,” noted Sanders. “We were excited when we launched. We thought there was a two-fold opportunity with Diabolical. One was to get The Boys fans excited about and get it out early. But we also wanted to see if there was another bite of the apple once the mothership show returned, and we are seeing real engagement and growth of the show there. We’ve definitely had conversations with the producers about what the next installment would look like.”

The Boys season 3 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
