Disney+ Releases the New Baymax! Series Trailer

At long last, Baymax! is getting the headlining vehicle he deserves. Disney confirmed in late 2020 that the scene-stealing inflatable robot from 2014’s Big Hero 6 would eventually get his own series on Disney+. But now, the show is just one month away, and the studio has graced us with a brand new trailer to get us ready for the character’s upcoming adventures.

The trailer finds Baymax striking out his own to help the people of San Fransokyo, much to the surprise of Hiro Hamada, his human companion. Although Hiro fears for his friend’s safety, Baymax seems to harbor no concerns of his own. Unfortunately, his good samaritan routine doesn’t always go as planned. It turns out not everyone is eager to accept help from a giant robot, especially when he offers to “scan” them. But it looks like the biggest threat Baymax will face is the occasional stray cat with razor-sharp claws.

Previously, the adventures of Hiro and Baymax continued on TV with Big Hero 6: The Series which aired from 2017 to 2021. But whereas that show utilized traditional hand-drawn animation, Baymax! restores the characters to the CG-animated design that made the original film an Oscar-winning success in 2014. The new series will also feature the return of Big Hero 6 cast members like Scott Adsit (Baymax), Ryan Potter (Hiro), and Maya Rudolph (Cass).

Other new additions to the cast include Emily Kuroda, Lilimar, Zeno Robinson, and Jaboukie Young-White. Dean Wellins, Lissa Treiman, Dan Abraham, and Mark Kennedy directed various episodes of the show from scripts by Cirocco Dunlap. Roy Conli and Bradford Simonsen are also onboard as producers for the series.

Baymax! will premiere on Disney+ on June 29.
