The CW Moves Stargirl Season 3 To Fall, and The Flash Season 9 To 2023

This fall is going to look very different on The CW. After the cancellations of Batwoman, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Naomi, there’s only one superhero on the fall 2022 schedule: Stargirl. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Stargirl season 3 will not premiere this summer as expected. Instead, Stargirl will now anchor Wednesday nights this fall in the 8pm slot. The new season of Kung Fu will round out Wednesday nights at 9pm. Moves Stargirl.

Presumably this decision gives The CW more time to decide the fate of Stargirl, and whether it will  be renewed for a fourth season. The series began as a DC Universe original, before moving to The CW. It also takes place on a different world in the DC multiverse, and it isn’t set on the Arrowverse’s primary Earth. Aside from John Wesley Shipp reprising his role as Jay Garrick/the Flash in season 2, there have been no formal crossovers between Stargirl and the Arrowverse.

The Supernatural prequel series, The Winchesters, will air Tuesday nights at 8pm this fall, followed by Professionals, a new series starring former Smallville lead actor Tom Welling. Additionally, The CW revealed that the Archie Comics drama, Riverdale, will end after seven seasons. That show will also have a mid-season premiere.

As for The Flash season 9, it is being held back for a mid-season premiere in 2023. Today’s announcement doesn’t specify if this will be the final season of The Flash. But the late premiere does suggest that the episode order for season 9 will be significantly lower than previous seasons.

Superman and Lois season 3 will also return in mid-season 2023, alongside Gotham Knights. Although Gotham Knights does have a few members of Batwoman‘s writing team, it will not be a part of the Arrowverse continuity.
