Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai Reveals New Character Art

Several decades before Gizmo the Mogwai found his way into the hands of Billy Peltzer, he struck up an unusual friendship with 10-year-old Sam Wing in Shanghai. Now, almost 40 years after the original Gremlins hit theaters, fans of film will finally learn how Gizmo came into Sam’s life. Ahead of its release later this year, HBO Max has released several new images from Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai. The photos reveal four of the series’ principal characters along with the actors providing their voices. You can view them in the gallery below.

Izaac Wang is headlining the series as Sam, a younger version of the character that Keye Luke memorably brought to life on the big screen in 1984. James Hong portrays Sam’s grandfather, a self-proclaimed expert in Chinese myths and magic who also happens to know all there is to know about the Mogwai. Additionally, Ming-Na Wen (The Book of Boba Fett) is co-starring as Sam’s mother, Fong, a doctor who fiercely protects her family. B.D. Wong (Jurassic Park) rounds out the cast as the voice of Sam’s dad, Hon, a skeptic who has never believed his father-in-law’s stories until strange things begin happening in their lives.
