The Orville: New Horizons Trailer Sets a Course For Adventure

Do you remember when The Orville was supposed to be a parody of Star Trek and all things sci-fi? It also seemed like Seth MacFarlane’s greatest desire was to star in his own Star Trek fan fiction series. But after two seasons on Fox, The Orville has a fan following of its own that favorable compares it to the real Star Trek. And after an extended absence, the third season, The Orville: New Horizons, is just a few weeks away. Hulu has debuted a new trailer for New Horizons, and it’s largely played as a straight sci-fi show.

There are still a few jokes in the trailer, including the moment that MacFarlane’s Captain Ed Mercer finds himself unable to give an inspirational speech without cribbing from Star Wars. The show’s optimism and playful nature also shines through. And it has to be said that the special effects look really good this season.
