Reservation Dogs’ Devery Jacobs Cast In Marvel’s Echo Series

Earlier this month, actress Alaqua Cox announced that her Echo series had begun filming. Now, the second cast member for the new Marvel show has been confirmed. Deadline is reporting that Reservation Dogs star and writer Devery Jacobs has been cast in Echo. Ironically, Cox almost spilled the secret herself. During the Instagram story that revealed the start of production, Cox shared a note from Jacobs that was accompanied by an arrangement of flowers. And in the note, Jacobs wrote “I wish I could be there to kick it off, but I know I’m there in spirit. See you soon!”

Deadline also suggests that Jacobs will be playing Julie, one of the lead characters on the show. Julie is described as “resilient and strong willed.”

Jacobs’ previous roles include American Gods, The Order, Rutherford Falls, Mohawk Girls, and Assassin’s Creed: Lineage. On Reservation Dogs, Jacobs portrays Elora Danan, one of the main characters who desperately want to leave their reservation life behind them. For the upcoming second season, Jacobs has also joined the writing staff of the show.

Cox made her MCU debut as Maya Lopez/Echo in Disney+’s Hawkeye series. Like her comic book counterpart, Maya had a strong emotional connection to Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio). That came to an end when Maya discovered that Fisk had her father killed. In one of the closing scenes of Hawkeye, Maya held a gun to Fisk’s head and pulled the trigger. This was based on a scene in the comics which Fisk survived. So don’t be too shocked if D’Onfrio’s Kingpin returns in this series as well.

As envisioned by Echo creators David Mack and Joe Quesada, Maya is a deaf heroine with a unique ability to mimic almost any physical action. However, it’s unclear if the MCU’s Maya possesses the same ability. She was able to hold her own in a fight against Clint Barton/Hawkeye, but she wasn’t able to beat him.

Disney+ hasn’t set a date for Echo, but a 2023 premiere seems likely.
