First Official Stranger Things 4 Stills Tease the Four Main Locations

We already knew that Stranger Things 4 would take place across four primary locations. There’s the lab, the Creel house, California, and a Russian prison camp. Now, in the first batch of official Stranger Things 4 stills, we get a look at the divided cast across these different settings. And according to cocreator Ross Duffer, the vibe will be much more horror this time around. There’s a reason why, too.

“When we pitched it to Netflix all those years ago, we pitched it as the kids are…The Goonies in E.T.,” explained Ross, via Netflix’s Tudum site. “That’s their storyline. And the adults are in Jaws and Close Encounters and then the teens are in Nightmare on Elm Street or Halloween. But, this year, we don’t have the kids. We can’t do The Goonies anymore. And so, suddenly, we’re leaning much harder into that horror movie territory that we love. It was fun to make that change.”

Duffer also confirms some of the fan theories out there are accurate, but of course he won’t say which.

In addition to the primary cast members, actors in the new season will include Jamie Campbell Bower (Peter Ballard), Joseph Quinn (Eddie Munson), Eduardo Franco (Argyle), Sherman Augustus (Lt. Colonel Sullivan), Mason Dye (Jason Carver), Nikola Djuricko (Yuri), Tom Wlaschiha (Dmitri), Myles Truitt (Patrick), Regina Ting Chen (Ms. Kelly), Grace Van Dien (Chrissy), Logan Riley Bruner (Fred Benson), Logan Allen (Jake), Elodie Grace Orkin (Angela), John Reynolds (Officer Callahan), Rob Morgan (Chief Powell), Amybeth McNulty (Vickie) and Robert Englund (Victor Creel).

Stranger Things 4 part one drops May 27 on Netflix; part 2 on July 1. It’s directed by The Duffer Brothers (401, 402, 407, 408, 409), Shawn Levy (403, 404), and Nimród Antal (405, 406).
