Obi-Wan Kenobi Villain Details and More Revealed

After the usual endless months of complete secrecy from official channels, the Disney+ Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi series finally reveals some details today. Via an EW photoshoot, we now know that Moses Ingram (above), recently of The Queen’s Gambit and The Tragedy of Macbeth, will play primary Obi-Wan Kenobi villain Reva, a Force-sensitive Inquisitor described as “ruthlessly ambitious.” In search of Jedi in hiding, she shares a “common dark-side goal” with Darth Vader and the Grand Inquisitor. The latter remains unseen in official images, so it’s not clear if he’s the same character voiced by Jason Isaacs in season 1 of Rebels or not.

Ingram describes her villain as “all heart,” which may hint at possible redemption. And she’ll feature in at least one scene with Joel Edgerton’s Owen Lars, who presumably escapes with his life for now. As for Ewan McGregor’s eponymous Jedi, he’s hanging out in an as-yet unfurnished cave on Tatooine. As the show starts, he’s “rather broken, and faithless, and beaten, somewhat given up,” according to McGregor. But he’d better get ready to travel. Among his destinations, we’ll see the planet Daiyu, described by writer Joby Harold as having “a Hong Kong feel to it…It’s got a graffiti-ridden nightlife, and is kind of edgy. It’s just got a different lane and a different feeling.”

EW published its small photo gallery today, which doesn’t reveal much but does show Ingram in costume. We should learn more later in the week, as details from the magazine’s final print issue go online. Obi-Wan Kenobi debuts on Disney+ May 25th, the 45th anniversary of Star Wars.
