While the butterflies prepare to teleport their huge alien cow away, Leota Adebayo outs herself to the rest of the team as Amanda Waller’s daughter. However, Waller can’t send them backup in time to help. Out of desperation, the team lets Christopher Smith/Peacemaker send Eagly off to the alien base with his sonic helmet. Unfortunately, Eagly simply drops the helmet in the woods. As he looks for the helmet, Chris is confronted by an apparition of his recently deceased father, Auggie Smith. Emilia Harcourt only sees part of the questionable encounter. But she miraculously finds the helmet nearby.
John Economos is convinced to masquerade as a butterfly-possessed officer and plant the sonic helmet near the cow. In the process, Economos is cornered by the butterflies and forced to admit that he is a dye-beard. Regardless, the sonic helmet does a lot of damage to the base and takes out several butterflies. Peacemaker storms the base, but he becomes trapped under the rubble.

Outside, Adrian Chase/Vigilante and Harcourt hold their own against the butterflies…but only they both get shot. Adebayo takes one Peacemaker’s helmets and saves Harcourt from being possessed by a butterfly. But Economos breaks his leg near the end of the fight. Inside the compound, the Goth Butterfly-possessed Detective Song pulls Chris from the rubble. She explains that the butterflies are like him, and willing to do anything for peace. She also thanks him for showing her mercy when he kept her prisoner. But instead of siding with the butterflies, Chris activates Adebayo’s helmet and uses her as a human torpedo to destroy the cow.
Chris kills Song’s body, but lets the Goff Butterfly live. As Team Peacemaker limps off the battlefield, the Justice League shows up too late. Chris angrily berates them, catching the ire of Aquaman. But the Flash seems to like the joke. In the aftermath, Chris and Adebayo reconcile while Adrian and Harcourt are treated for their injuries. Adebayo even goes a step further by clearing Chris’ name and exposing her mother’s Task Force X program. When Harcourt awakens, she holds Chris’ hand after learning that he waited there for days to make sure she was alright.
Some time later, Chris returns home with Eagly and the Goff Butterfly. Sadly, he remains haunted by the apparition of his father.
