Stranger Things 4 to Be Split, Penultimate Season; Posters Revealed

It’s been a long wait for Stranger Things 4, and today comes news that while some of it will arrive soon, the story stretches out even more. Season 4 now comes in two parts. Volume One drops on May 27; Volume Two on July 1. Given that the season includes nine episodes total, it’s not clear yet how the 5-4 split works. But what’s also finally confirmed is that season 4 will be the penultimate season, and season 5 the last. Check out the letter below from the Duffer brothers:

In addition to this news, Netflix just dropped four teaser posters, which all fit together for an amalgamated image. They reveal the Upside Down opening in four separate locations, across which our cast remains divided. Russia, California, the lab, and the Creel house. You can see them all in the gallery down below.

The official synopsis of Stranger Things 4 reads: “It’s been six months since the Battle of Starcourt, which brought terror and destruction to Hawkins. Struggling with the aftermath, our group of friends are separated for the first time – and navigating the complexities of high school hasn’t made things any easier. In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”
