Master Chief’s fight against the Covenant isn’t over yet. According to Deadline, Paramount+ has renewed its highly-anticipated Halo adaptation for season 2. This news comes almost six weeks ahead of the series’ proper debut in late March.
Additionally, the streaming service has confirmed that Fear the Walking Dead alum David Wiener will take over as Halo’s new showrunner and executive producer beginning with season 2. Wiener was first reported to be in consideration for the job earlier this month. He succeeds original showrunners Steven Kane and Kyle Killen. Kane left the series before filming began. However, Killen remained until production on season 1 was complete.
“Halo is an expansive, world-building opportunity for Paramount+,” said Tanya Giles, chief programming officer at Paramount+. “And we’re thrilled to give fans a second season to look forward to before we launch the series next month. Halo will deliver a thrill-ride for fans of the game and non-gamers alike, as it ties together stunning visuals with a deeper look at the personal stories behind these iconic characters, all set within an epic battle for the future of humanity.”

“Halo takes us into a dazzling world that we believe will enthrall audiences as much with its electrifying visuals as its bold, character-driven storytelling,” added David Nevins, the chief content officer of scripted originals at Paramount+ as well as the chief executive officer at Showtime Networks. “This second-season pickup reflects the confidence we have in the power of this epic series to attract and engage viewers. Halo has been a great collaboration with Amblin and 343 Industries, and we are all grateful for the opportunity to continue it.”
The first season of Halo will premiere on Paramount+ on March 24.
