Daniella Pineda Joins AMC’s Tales of the Walking Dead

Following Cowboy Bebop’s cancellation, Daniella Pineda will put her fighting skills to the test against ravenous zombies. Variety brings word that Pineda has joined the cast of Tales of the Walking Dead on AMC.

Showrunner Channing Powell and executive producer Scott M. Gimple are developing Tales of the Walking Dead as an anthology series. Each episode will zero in on a different character or character group, some of whom viewers have already met in other Walking Dead series. Earlier this month, AMC began filling out the cast with Anthony Edwards, Terry Crews, Parker Posey, Poppy Liu, and Jillian Bell. The network isn’t sharing which roles these actors are playing just yet. And it’s still unclear if any of them will show up in the same episodes. However, the series will reportedly act as a “test kitchen” for other potential spinoffs featuring their characters.

Before starring in Netflix’s live-action Cowboy Bebop remake, Pineda previously appeared in TBS’ The Detour and The CW’s The Originals. She will next appear in Jurassic World: Dominion as Zia Rodriguez, a role she played in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018.

The new spinoff will comprise at least six episodes. Producer Michael Satrazemis is directing three episodes, while the remaining installments will be helmed by Haifaa al-Mansour, Deborah Kampmeier, and Tara Nicole Weyr.

Tales of the Walking Dead will premiere this summer on AMC.
