Amazon Prime Debuts Red Band Trailer For The Legend of Vox Machina

Critical Role fans have waited a long time to see the Vox Machina’s adventures in animation, but the wait is almost over. Amazon Prime Video will premiere The Legend of Vox Machina later this month, the first of at least two seasons chronicling the characters from Critical Role‘s first campaign. Additionally, Amazon has dropped a new red band trailer for the series, which shows off its adult animation sensibilities. So, expect lots of violence, blood, and bad language.

The trailer begins with a spoof of traditional fantasy epics that quickly goes wrong. This world may need heroes, but the Vox Machina don’t exactly qualify. They may be adventurers, thieves, and heavy drinkers, but they aren’t altruistic by nature. Even the suggestion that they can do good is met with laughter by most of the party.

The cast features Ashley Johnson as Pike Trickfoot, the gnome cleric who is at least open to being heroic. Travis Willingham voices Grog Strongjaw, the somewhat dim blue goliath who literally holds his guts in at one point. Taliesin Jaffe is the gunslinger, Percival “Percy” Fredrickstein Von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III, while Marisha Ray portrays the half-elf druid, Keyleth of the Air Ashari. Rounding out the party are Laura Bailey as Vex’ahlia “Vex” Vessar, Liam O’Brien as Vax’ildan “Vax” Vessar, and Sam Riegel as Scanlan Shorthalt.

Critical Role‘s DM, Matthew Mercer, also stars in the series as Sylas Briarwood, and a few other characters in season 1.

The Legend of the Vox Machina will premiere on Friday, January 28.
