Apple TV+ Renews Foundation For Season 2

Hari Seldon and his acolytes will live to fight another day. Two weeks after Foundation’s debut, The Wrap is reporting that Apple TV+ has renewed the series for a second season.

The show’s first two episodes debuted last month and introduced viewers to Jared Harris’ Seldon, a mathematician who uses the science of probability to predict a cataclysmic future. His discoveries bring him into conflict with Lee Pace’s Brother Day, a clone of the first Galactic Emperor who is mainly concerned with protecting his own lineage. After presenting his findings, Seldon and his followers are exiled to the Empire’s far reaches. There, they establish a “Foundation” to store all human knowledge and help future generations create a new society.

David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman adapted the series from Isaac Asimov’s acclaimed sci-fi novels. Goyer currently serves as the sole showrunner, with an aim to produce eight seasons in total. And as he tells it, viewers can also expect to see more recognizable fixtures from the books in season 2.

“Since my childhood I’ve dreamed of how Hari Seldon and Eto Demerzel would look and sound — what Terminus and Trantor would feel like,” said Goyer. “Now, with season two, our audience will get to visit more of Asimov’s indelible characters and worlds, including Hober Mallow, General Bel Riose, and all the Outer Suns. I’m thrilled that a whole new generation of fans are reading Asimov’s brilliant masterwork. We’re playing the long game with Foundation. And I’m grateful to my partners at Apple and Skydancefor entrusting me with this epic. Buckle up. We’re about to fold some serious space.”

The next episode of Foundation premieres tomorrow on Apple TV+.
