In a matter of hours, Netflix will release the sixth and final season of Lucifer. After a much-tormented run that started on Jan. 25, 2016, at Fox and included the series’ cancelation at the end of season 3 — before Netflix picked it up to complete it — the adventures of Neil Gaiman’s devilish antihero are about to end. In honor of the long run, stars Tom Ellis and Lauren German sat down at a roundtable, confessing their most cherished memories from the set. Both of them said season 1’s “A Priest Walks into a Bar” episode was their favorite one to shoot. The ninth episode featured the title character and detective Chloe Decker solving a homicide case involving a priest portrayed by Colman Domingo.
“That, to me, was a real, huge moment in the show, and it really showed how different this show could be to what you expect it to be,” said Ellis while talking with EW about a scene where his Lucifer sings with Domingo’s priest and bond over a piano. “And it was just a genuine moment. No words. And Colman and I were just given a track of music to do something with, and it was an absolute blessing that Colman Domingo came and guested on our show.”

Right before the end, someone shoots the priest, who dies shortly after. While the scene brings a certain gravitas, it appears that the atmosphere was quite cheerful on set.
“I’ve never laughed so hard,” revealed German. “Tom, Colman, and I laughed so hard shooting the church scenes of that episode, I couldn’t breathe. We were dying laughing. And it’s just one of the best memories.”
Lucifer season 6 will be available for binge-watching on Netflix starting Sept. 10.
