Adult Swim Teases Live-Action Rick and Morty With Christopher Lloyd

Rick and Morty season 5 is wrapping up this weekend. However, this doesn’t mean that the show is out of surprises. Earlier today, Adult Swim debuted a live-action Rick and Morty clip with Christopher Lloyd as Rick Sanchez. Additionally, Jaeden Martell (It: Chapter One) appears as Morty Smith.

It’s a very short scene that debuted on Twitter. Regardless, it’s unclear if this is from the actual season 5 finale or a separate short that will debut on Sunday.

Lloyd is of course best known for portraying Dr. Emmett Brown in the Back To the Future trilogy. Justin Roiland, the co-creator of Rick and Morty, originally conceived the series as a Back To the Future parody. In other words, Rick began as Roiland’s take on Doc Brown, which makes this an ideal casting.

It should also be noted that Adult Swim gave the clip a designation: C-132. The Rick and Morty on the show have the C-137 designation, so this isn’t meant to be the exact same characters we’ve followed for years. Instead, they’re variants. The Rick and Morty comics have also used C-132 for its lead characters, so this potentially links the live-action scene to the comic as well.

The two-part Rick and Morty season 5 finale will premiere on Adult Swim this Sunday, September 5.
