Zombies Get a Wake-Up Call in The Walking Dead Season 11 Preview

Zombies Get a Wake-Up Call in The Walking Dead Season 11

AMC+ subscribers have been able to stream The Walking Dead’s new season premiere for almost a week now. But for everyone else, the series’ final season is still two days away, and the network has just released the episode’s opening scene for anyone hungry for more life-or-death circumstances. Naturally, the almost-five-minute clip shows the band of survivors doing exactly what they do best: killing zombies. Check it out for yourself below.

The episode begins with several characters attempting to quietly haul supplies through a building’s roof using a pulley system. The catch? They’re surrounded by a horde of dormant walkers. And in a moment ripped straight out of Spider-Man, a lone drop of blood falls from the ceiling and ruins everything. As the zombies wake up, it becomes a mad scramble to get everybody out of the building in time. Daryl, Carol, Maggie, Lydia, and others hit back against the walkers with arrows at first. But as the situation grows more tense, they throw caution to the wind and pick up machine guns.

Previously, AMC confirmed that it would be splitting The Walking Dead’s final 24-episode season into three parts. The first chunk of eight episodes will air this year, while the remaining two segments will drop sometime in 2022. Over the next few months, viewers will explore the Commonwealth (a pivotal location from the comics), where they will meet new characters like Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) and Lance Hornsby (Josh Hamilton).

The Walking Dead season 11 will premiere this Sunday, August 22 on AMC.
