The last season of Westworld memorably brought its host (and human) characters away from the titular theme park and introduced viewers to its high tech vision of the future. So it’s no surprise that the series aims to top itself in season 4. According to co-showrunner Lisa Joy, we can expect the show to visit a wide variety of new locales when it returns.
Joy briefly discussed the new season while speaking with Deadline about her new movie, Reminiscence. The film marks her feature directorial debut and hits theaters and HBO Max tomorrow. Joy couldn’t share many specifics (though apparently, “inversion” is a key word). Regardless, she did hint that she’s recruiting a familiar face for Westworld’s return.
“You’re going to see some new worlds that I think are really fun,” said Joy. “And you’re going to see someone who I kidnapped from Reminiscence in a funny way.”

Reminiscence already stars two key Westworld players: Thandiwe Newton and Angela Sarafyan. However, the cast also includes Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson, and Daniel Wu. But for now, we don’t know which actors or actresses will appear in an upcoming episode. As for the new worlds Joy mentioned, the series has already shown us theme parks based on the Wild West, feudal Japan, and World War II.
HBO hasn’t announced a premiere date for Westworld season 4.
