The Witcher Showrunner Talks About Season 2’s First Episode

Fans of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novels may have noted that the first season of Netflix’s The Witcher adapted “The Last Wish,” a collection of Sapkowski’s short stories. However, one of the most notable exclusions was “A Grain of Truth.” But that will change with the season 2 premiere.

In a new video from Netflix, The Witcher showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich confirms that the first episode of season 2 will adapt “A Grain of Truth.” You can catch the video below.

Within the original story, Geralt (Henry Cavill) encounters a former bandit named Nivellen. Because of his past crimes, Nivellen was cursed with the appearance of a beast. However, there is a cure for Nivellen’s condition. Unfortunately, he can’t remember what it was.

Ciri (Freya Allan) wasn’t present in the original short story. Regardless, she will be written into the show’s adaptation of the tale. The story will take place as Geralt escorts Ciri to Kaer Morhen. That’s where Geralt was trained as a Witcher, and he believes that they will be safe there. Additionally, Geralt hopes to train Ciri how to control her powers.

The Witcher season 2 will hit Netflix on December 17.
