This fall will mark 20 years since Smallville premiered on The WB and set a new standard for superhero television. To ring in this milestone, the series is coming to Blu-ray for the first time ever. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced that a new box set will collect all 218 episodes in high-definition.
The collection also boasts nearly 30 hours of bonus content that viewers can sink their teeth into. Fans can also watch the 1961 pilot for The Adventures of Superboy, a precursor to Smallville that starred Johnny Rockwell as a young Clark Kent and also would have explored the Man of Steel’s formative years. Additionally, the set features “A Retrospective Look at the Series’ 10-Year Journey,” which promises a “season-by-season look” at Smallville’s production complete with cast interviews and rare behind-the-scenes footage. Tom Welling (Clark), Erica Durance (Lois Lane), Michael Rosenbaum (Lex Luthor), Phil Morris (J’onn J’onzz), John Schneider (Jonathan Kent), and other actors will all show up to share their thoughts on the show’s legacy.

Viewers will also be able to revisit certain extras that were previously available on earlier DVD sets. That includes an inside look at the making of the series’ 100th episode, which marked Schneider’s last regular appearance as Jonathan Kent. The 2011 documentary Secret Origin: The American Story of DC Comics is also included in its entirety. Other featurettes explore Smallville’s visits to Comic-Con and PaleyFest over the years. And of course, there’s the usual assortment of audio commentaries, deleted/extended scenes, gag reels, and more.
Smallville: The Complete Series hits stores on October 19.
