Amazon Renews The Wheel of Time For Season 2

In case the $465 million price tag for its upcoming Lord of the Rings series didn’t give it away, Amazon is betting big on the fantasy. Now, the streamer’s other big fantasy adaptation has just scored an early renewal. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that The Wheel of Time will be back for season 2.

This news comes as production on the show’s first season is close to wrapping in the Czech Republic. Inspired by Robert Jordan’s novels, The Wheel of Time features a cast headlined by Rosamund Pike and also featuring Josha Stradowski, Madeleine Madden, Daniel Henney, Zoë Robins, and more. Amazon has yet to release a proper trailer for the series. Instead, all we’ve had to go on are short clips featuring Pike and Henney’s characters.

Showrunner and executive producer Rafe Judkins also issued a new statement about the series’ renewal:

“The belief Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television have shown in The Wheel of Time has been incredible to see throughout the entire process of making this show,” said Judkins. “Getting a second season order before the first season has even premiered is such a vote of confidence in the work we are doing and the property itself, and we couldn’t be happier to be able to continue to live and work in the world Robert Jordan created. This property is one I’ve loved since I was a teenager, and seeing it brought to life with the resources to make it truly worthy of what’s on the page is something I can’t wait for the other fans of the books to see. And season two just keeps expanding the world we built in season one.”

Amazon still hasn’t announced a premiere date for The Wheel of Time.
