The World Is a Dangerous Place for Hybrids in Sweet Tooth Trailer

Three weeks from now, Sweet Tooth will debut on Netflix. The first live-action adaptation of the DC comic book series by Jeff Lemire will follow the adventures of Gus, a boy who is part-human and part-deer. Now, the streaming service has debuted the official trailer for the series. In the video, Gus lives in a world that’s full of hybrids, who started to appear following a mysterious pandemic that left humanity in a state of uncertainty. But it appears that fully human people don’t like to share their world. Whenever the chance arises, they hunt hybrids down. Gus leaves his home hoping to find a safer place, while also learning that not all humans hate hybrids.

Robert Downey Jr. will produce the series together with Susan Downey, Jim Mickle, Beth Schwartz, Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran. The official synopsis for Sweet Tooth reads:

Ten years ago ‘The Great Crumble’ wreaked havoc on the world and led to the mysterious emergence of hybrids — babies born part human, part animal. Unsure if hybrids are the cause or result of the virus, many humans fear and hunt them. After a decade of living safely in his secluded forest home, a sheltered hybrid deer-boy named Gus (Christian Convery) unexpectedly befriends a wandering loner named Jepperd (Nonso Anozie). Together they set out on an extraordinary adventure across what’s left of America in search of answers— about Gus’ origins, Jepperd’s past, and the true meaning of home. But their story is full of unexpected allies and enemies, and Gus quickly learns the lush, dangerous world outside the forest is more complex than he ever could have imagined.

Sweet Tooth will debut on Netflix on June 4. In the meantime, you can check a batch of freshly released photos in the gallery below (in addition to the ones released by the streaming service previously).
