Warning: There are spoilers ahead for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier episode 4!
In Marvel’s comic book universe, John Walker had a few good months as Captain America before he disgraced himself. However, his MCU counterpart appears to be on an accelerated timeline. Disney+ has premiered the fourth episode of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and we want to know what the Superhero Hype community thinks about it!
The episode begins with a flashback to Bucky Barnes’ time in Wakanda, as Ayo of the Dora Milaje helps him realize that he is free from Hydra’s control. In the present, Ayo berates Bucky for freeing Helmut Zemo, the man who murdered her previous king. Bucky manages to buy some time, but Ayo is clearly displeased with him. Later, Bucky tells both Sam Wilson and Zemo that the Dora Milaje are coming for them. But he neglects to mention Ayo’s eight hour time limit. The unlikely trio visit a settlement for people displaced by the Blip. Yet only Zemo emerges with intel about the location of Karli Morgenthau and the Flag Smashers.
Before they can act on that information, John Walker and his partner, Lemar Hoskins, intercept them. The new Captain America gives Sam ten minutes to try to talk Karli down. However, John becomes increasingly unstable as they wait. Meanwhile, Sam actually has a productive conversation with Karli…until John ruins it by barging in. As Karli tries to flee, Zemo shoots her and smashes all of the vials of Super Soldier serum…except one. John knocks out Zemo with his shield and takes the last vial for himself.

Shortly thereafter, the Dora Milaje come for Zemo. Despite Sam and Bucky’s warning, John makes the mistake of provoking Ayo. In response, the Dora Milaje wipe the floor with all four men while Zemo escapes. John is humiliated when he realizes that the Dora weren’t even super soldiers. After escaping, Karli decides to kill John and she also contacts Sam’s sister to set up a meeting. Karli actually tries to recruit Sam while her fellow Flag Smashers grab Lemar and fight John. Sam and Bucky get a tip from Sharon Carter and race towards the new Cap’s location…unaware that John has taken the serum and become a super soldier as well.
During the chaotic fight that follows, Lemar is accidentally killed by Karli. John goes berserk as he pursues the Flag Smashers. He corners one and brutally murders the man as horrified onlookers record him with their smart phones. Sam and Bucky watch in shock as Steve Rogers’ shield is covered with blood from John’s victim.
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s first four episodes are on Disney+. The fifth episode will debut on Friday, April 16.
