Five New Actors Join The CW’s Naomi Pilot

The cast of The CW’s Naomi series continues to grow. According to Deadline, executive producers Ava DuVernay and Jill Blankenship have cast five new roles for the show’s pilot. The latest additions include former 7th Heaven star Barry Watson, Mouzam Makkar, Mary-Charles Jones, Aidan Gemme, and Daniel Puig.

Earlier this month, DuVernay and Blankenship cast Kaci Walfall to headline Naomi as the title character, a superpowered teenager from a parallel universe who was sent to Earth as an infant and raised in a northwestern town. Watson will also have a key role on the show as Naomi’s adoptive father, Greg, an army officer stationed at the town’s military base. Meanwhile, Makkar (ABC’s The Fix) will co-star as Naomi’s adoptive mother and Greg’s wife, Jennifer, a linguistics teacher at the base.

Jones, who previously starred on Kevin Can Wait, is playing Naomi’s best friend and classmate, Annabelle. Gemme, who has been featured in various musical theater productions, will appear as Annabelle’s boyfriend, Jacob. Finally, Puig (The System) has joined the series as Naomi’s ex, Nathan. He and Naomi are still friends, but he clearly still harbors romantic feelings for her. This will become even more obvious when another guy vies for her affections.

DuVernay and Blankenship co-wrote the pilot for Naomi, which has yet to get a full series order from The CW. The show is based on the DC character created by Brian Michael Bendis, David F. Walker, and Jamal Campbell in 2019.

Alexander Wraith, Cranston Johnson and newcomer Camila Moreno also recently booked roles on the series. It’s still not clear when filming is expected to begin.
