It appears that the Monsterverse is getting bigger by the minute. According to Deadline, Netflix and Legendary Television struck a deal for an anime series focused on Kong’s mysterious Skull Island home from Powerhouse Animation, the company behind Castlevania and Blood of Zeus. The upcoming animated series by Brian Duffield (Underwater) will connect with the events of 2017’s Kong: Skull Island. The story will follow the adventures of shipwrecked characters in their attempt to escape from the titular island home while dealing with prehistoric monsters. Needless to say, the show will also feature the king of the island, Kong himself. Skull Island’s ruler will also return soon on-screen when he battles the mightiest kaiju in the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong film.

But Skull Island isn’t the only franchise that’s getting an anime expansion. For the first time, Square Enix’s Tomb Raider is getting an animated adaptation as well. The series will follow Lara Croft after the events of video game reboot. Interestingly, the animated series by Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja) doesn’t sound like it’s connected to the upcoming Tomb Raider 2 live-action movie at all. And speaking of the sequel, MGM has yet to set a new official release date for the next Lara Croft live-action adventure.
Netflix has yet to reveal when the upcoming anime series will hit the streaming service.
