Ms. Marvel has only been filming for a few weeks, but this didn’t stop Marvel from premiering a new sizzle reel at Disney’s Investor Day event. Clocking in at just over a minute, the video features interviews with a few of the show’s producers, including head writer Bisha K. Ali and Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige. And as a bonus, fans can view some early footage from the series as well. Check it out for yourself below.

Ali stressed that Kamala Khan’s Pakistani heritage makes her a “new kind of superhero.” But like so many other Marvel characters, her story’s a universal one. Ali’s enthusiasm was echoed by Sana Amanat, who co-created Kamala in 2013 and is currently working on the series as an executive producer. The filmmakers also discussed the process of bringing newcomer Iman Vellani onboard to play the MCU’s version of Kamala. Plus, it looks like we get to see clips from the Zoom meeting where Vellani first learned of her casting.

Fortunately, Vellani’s character will play a much larger role in the MCU beyond her upcoming Disney+ series. Feige confirmed that Kamala will also appear opposite Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel 2. She’ll be joined by Teyonah Parris, who’s reprising her WandaVision role as the grown-up Monica Rambeau. Nia DaCosta is sitting in the director’s chair for that film, which will now hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
Ms. Marvel is expected to premiere on Disney+ in late 2021.
