The CW Halts The Flash Season 7 Production Over Positive COVID-19 Test

It looks like COVID-19 has affected The Flash series once again. According to Deadline, someone working on the set of The CW show has tested positive for COVID-19. The report does not reveal if the “team member” is one of the actors or the crew, but it says that the person is asymptomatic and self-isolating. The television network has therefore paused production on Season 7 in Vancouver. The report also indicates that the studio is considering resuming filming once they’ve isolated the affected employee’s close contacts. At the moment, it’s hard to tell if the news will have any impact on the official release date for the new season.

The COVID-19 pandemic has already affected the series in the past several times. In March, production on the sixth season was shut down shortly after the virus global outbreak, leaving only 19 episodes instead of the 22 originally scheduled. After that, The CW had to postpone the season finale given that the virus affected the Flash crew’s ability to complete post-production on the episode.

Additionally, The Flash star Grant Gustin recently revealed that the ongoing global health crisis stalled discussions about the renewal for an eighth and a ninth season. However, the renewal should arrive sooner or later, given that Barry Allen’s story is now one of the most popular shows in The CWverse following the exit of Arrow.

Should everything go according to The CW’s plans, The Flash season 7 will debut on Tuesday, Feb. 23.
