Pennyworth season 2 is right around the corner, bringing with it another dose of British accents, glass clinking, and, of course, international espionage. Epix has just premiered the latest trailer for the new season that teases what viewers can expect from the “proper argy-bargy” that Alfred and his compatriots have gotten themselves into this time.
The show’s first season introduced Jack Bannon as a much younger version of Alfred Pennyworth. Decades before becoming Bruce Wayne’s butler, he was an ex-SAS agent who formed his own security company in London. His work brought him into the orbit of Bruce’s future parents, Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane. Unfortunately, it also landed him in the crosshairs of Lord James Harwood, the shadowy leader of the Raven Society who plans to stage a coup of the British government.

This year finds Alfred and his allies caught in the middle of a civil war that has erupted in England. Naturally, the titular smooth-talking spy will have to figure out the best course of action. But while this is happening, Thomas and Martha will be forced to navigate their own thorny relationship as well. The trailer also gives us a look at some of the new actors who will make their debut in the show’s new season in December. This includes Simon Manyonda as a young Lucius Fox.
