Giancarlo Esposito Teases Future Seasons of The Mandalorian

In about six weeks, The Mandalorian will return for its second season on Disney+. Giancarlo Esposito will also be back this season as Moff Gideon, the current wielder of the Dark Saber and the man chasing down Mando and The Child. Via Collider, Esposito told People Magazine that season 2 will offer more answers about The Child aka Baby Yoda.

“The next season of The Mandalorian is going to be very interesting because you’re going to start to find out the power of The Child, what The Child really means,” said Esposito. “You will also start to uncover the origins of the Darksaber that Moff Gideon has and how that plays into previous Star Wars history connected to The Clone Wars and other shows. And you’ll start to get a real dramatic sense of the territory.”

Additionally, Esposito hinted that larger answers may not arrive until the show’s third and fourth seasons.

“We’re living in a universe that is huge and [has] so much to explore,” related Esposito. “So I think this show is going to start to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that’s going to come in season 3 and season 4, where you’re really gonna start to get answers.”

Disney+ hasn’t officially announced a renewal of The Mandalorian yet.  However, it seems likely to happen in the near future.

The Mandalorian season 2 will premiere on Disney+ on October 30.
