Harley Quinn Showrunners Look Ahead To Season 3

Earlier today, Harley Quinn‘s future was assured with a third season renewal at HBO Max. According to Harley Quinn showrunners Patrick Schumacker and Justin Halpern, they found out about the renewal a few days ago. However, they’ve been thinking about where Harley Quinn season 3 may go for months. In a new interview with EW, Schumacker and Halpern shed some new light on their plans. They confirmed that Kite-Man will return, but that he won’t be a threat to Harley and Ivy’s new romance.

“That’s the big thing for us to chew on,” said Halpern. “The thing we have discussed preliminarily is the idea that these two characters have had a lot of toxic relationships in their past. Although Ivy and Kite Man wasn’t toxic, it also wasn’t an equal relationship, you know? He loved her a lot more than she loved him. So this is the first time they’re both going to be in a relationship where they really and truly have affection towards one another. They have a lot of responsibility. So I think like, ‘what is it like to be in a good relationship after you’ve only ever been in bad relationships with abusive people?’ is a big theme we want to play with.”

Additionally, Schumacker and Halpern promised fans that the show’s hilarious version of Bane will also return.

“We’ll kill almost any character that’s not Harley or Ivy, but we’ll never kill Bane,” noted Halpern.

At the moment, there’s no time table for Harley Quinn‘s season 3 premiere. The first two seasons are already on HBO Max.
